1. What this covers
We offer two things, and they work differently. A personalised report is a document, assembled from wording written and checked in advance and selected by the answers you give. There are no appointments and no ongoing relationship: you buy one report on a defined question, for a fixed fee. A Situation Review is a booked meeting in which a lawyer looks at your own matter with you, set out separately in section 4 because different terms apply to it. Except where a section says otherwise, what follows is about the report.
Your report sets out your position in a standard residential tenancy bond or repair matter in Victoria or New South Wales, based on the answers you enter into the questionnaire, delivered once as a PDF.
That is the whole of it. In particular, this service does not:
- represent you at VCAT, NCAT, or in any other proceeding;
- file, lodge, serve, or submit any document on your behalf;
- correspond with your rental provider, landlord, or agent (the suggested email in your report is yours to send, from your own inbox);
- review or confirm any document you produce after your report is delivered (a Situation Review under section 4 is the separate service that does look at your material);
- cover anything outside the questions the questionnaire asks; or
- continue on an ongoing basis, or hold a file for you.
Your report sets out the law, not the facts. It tells you where you stand if the facts are as you have described them. We do not investigate, verify, or determine those facts. Nothing here decides whether a property was left clean, whether an item is damaged or merely worn, whether a repair was reasonably necessary, or who is right. Establishing the facts, and gathering the evidence for them, is your part. Your report tells you which evidence matters and how to use it.
Who you are cannot change your report. This service cannot produce a different result for one person than for another. Your report is assembled from wording written in advance, selected by the answers you give, and nothing else. Enter the same answers as someone else and you receive the same report.
We do receive a name and an email address, because the payment processor needs them to take payment. Neither plays any part in what your report says, and neither can: your answers fix the contents of the report before payment is taken, and there is no point in the process at which who you are changes it. A conflict of interest arises where a duty owed to one person changes what is done for another. Because who you are cannot change your report, that cannot arise here.
If you later ask us to look at your situation individually, that is separate work under a separate arrangement, and a full conflict check is carried out before any of it begins.
2. Not legal advice
You acknowledge and agree that your report does not constitute legal advice. It states the law that applies to the facts you enter, but it does not, and cannot, decide those facts for you (see section 1). Because no judgment is made on your particular circumstances, nothing in your report is legal advice on your matter.
If you want legal advice on your own situation, a Situation Review is available under section 4, and is described there. This section does not apply to a Situation Review, which is legal advice and is described as such.
3. What is excluded
Out-of-scope matters. This service does not cover the matters listed in section 12, and you must not use it for them. The questionnaire routes those to specialist services rather than producing a report, because they are governed by different rules and deserve help this service is not built to give.
If your matter is complex or urgent, or you are unsure whether this service fits your situation, seek independent legal assistance instead. A fixed-fee report built on stated facts is the right tool for a standard dispute and the wrong tool for an unusual one.
4. Situation Review
A Situation Review is a separate service from a report. It is a booked meeting of 45 minutes in which an Australian legal practitioner considers your own tenancy matter with you and gives you legal advice on where you stand and what to do next, followed by a short written summary. It is available to people who already hold one of our reports.
Our fee is $300. It is a fixed fee for one meeting and one written summary. Your payment card is saved once we have agreed a time and is not charged then. We charge it after your written summary has been delivered. If that charge is declined we will send you a payment link instead.
A conflict check is carried out before the review begins. That is why we ask for your name, the other party's name, the agency, and the property address when you book, and why we ask for nothing about the merits at that point. If a conflict is found we will decline the booking and tell you, remove your saved card, and charge you nothing.
Times are arranged by email. You send us the details above, we check for conflicts and reply with times that work, and once a time is agreed you save a card. It remains uncharged until your summary has been delivered.
The review is based on what you give us. You email us your documents directly, at least 48 hours before the meeting. We read them, and our advice rests on them. We do not investigate, verify, or determine the facts they describe, and we do not obtain documents on your behalf. If the information you provide is incomplete or wrong, the advice will reflect that. If your documents have not arrived by the deadline, we will reschedule the meeting rather than hold it unprepared.
A Situation Review does not:
- represent you at VCAT, NCAT, or in any other proceeding;
- file, lodge, serve, or submit any document on your behalf;
- correspond with your rental provider, landlord, or agent;
- continue beyond the meeting and the written summary; or
- create an ongoing retainer, or any obligation on us to act for you again.
The engagement ends when your written summary is delivered. Nothing further is owed in either direction. If you want a further review later, that is a fresh engagement, with a fresh conflict check and a fresh fee.
Your information. Unlike a report, a Situation Review requires you to send us your documents, so we do receive and hold them. How they are handled is set out in our Privacy Policy.
5. How the platform works
Your personal details are not transmitted to our servers. Your report is assembled with those details on your device and downloaded directly to you. We do not receive or retain a copy.
Your report is a single, one-time download. Because your personal details are never transmitted to us and no copy of your finished report is retained, once you leave this page we cannot re-send, regenerate, restore, or provide a further copy of it. You are responsible for saving and backing up the document when you download it, for example by emailing it to yourself. If it is lost, the only way to obtain another is to complete the questionnaire again.
Because we never receive your personal details or a copy of your finished report, we do not hold a file for you and cannot produce your report again later. Keeping your own copy is your responsibility.
What we do collect is set out in our Privacy Policy.
6. Eligibility
By using this platform, you confirm that you:
- are at least 18 years old;
- are an Australian resident;
- are a residential tenant (not a landlord, property manager, or agent); and
- are accessing the platform for a residential tenancy matter in Victoria or New South Wales.
The platform is designed for standard residential tenancy disputes only. It is not suitable for the matters listed in section 12. If your matter falls into one of those categories, you must seek independent legal assistance.
7. Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for:
- the accuracy and completeness of the answers you provide;
- the truth and accuracy of the facts underlying your answers (for example the actual condition of the property or an item), as the platform assesses the law, not the facts;
- the accuracy of any personal details entered into the questionnaire;
- saving and backing up your report when you download it, as it is a one-time download we cannot re-send or recover;
- sending any email, and lodging any application or response, correctly and on time; and
- complying with all applicable VCAT, NCAT, and court rules and deadlines.
We accept no responsibility for errors or omissions in the information you provide, or for the consequences of a report that is correct on the facts you gave us but those facts turn out to be wrong or incomplete.
8. Our fee
Our fee for a report is $88. It is a fixed fee for the single report you purchase, and nothing further is payable for it. If you want a report on another matter, that is another purchase at the same price. A Situation Review is a separate service at a separate fee, set out in section 4, and you are never charged for one unless you book it. We reserve the right to change our fees at any time, with changes taking effect on future purchases.
Payments are processed securely by our payment processor. We collect only your name and email address in connection with payment. We do not see or store your payment card details.
Refunds. Because the platform delivers immediate digital access upon payment, we do not offer refunds except where required by the Australian Consumer Law. If you believe you are entitled to a refund under the Australian Consumer Law, please contact us at contact@quickhelplegal.com.au.
9. Intellectual property
All content on this platform (including the questionnaire logic, document templates, text, and design) is owned by or licensed to Quick Help Legal Pty Ltd. You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercialise any part of the platform without our written consent.
The completed report you download is yours. You own the content you entered and the report generated for your use.
10. Liability limitations
We carry professional indemnity insurance, and we do not exclude liability for our own work. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for loss or damage (including indirect or consequential loss) arising from:
- errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in the information you provide;
- any failure to send, lodge, or serve a document or application correctly or on time; or
- any decision you make that your report did not recommend.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy you may have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified.
11. Prohibited conduct
You must not use this platform to:
- provide false or misleading information;
- access the platform using automated means (bots, scrapers, or scripts);
- resell or sublicense access to any other person;
- reverse-engineer, copy, or reproduce the questionnaire logic or templates; or
- use the platform for any purpose other than your own residential tenancy bond or repair matter.
12. Out-of-scope matters
QuickHelpLegal: Renting does not cover, and you must not use it for, matters involving:
- intervention orders or family violence orders;
- rooming house or caravan park disputes;
- student accommodation;
- social, community, or public housing;
- commercial tenancies; or
- matters in states or territories other than Victoria and New South Wales.
If your matter falls into any of these categories, please seek independent legal assistance.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria for any dispute arising under or in connection with these terms.
14. Variations
We may update these terms at any time. The current version will always be available at this page. Continued use of the platform after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
15. Contact and concerns
For any questions about these terms, or if you are unhappy with your report or with our service, contact us at contact@quickhelplegal.com.au. Tell us what went wrong and we will work with you to put it right.
