1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to QuickHelpLegal: Renting, a service of Quick Help Legal Pty Ltd (ACN 701 935 775, ABN 18 701 935 775), an incorporated legal practice (the “us”, “we”, or “our”).

2. What personal information we collect

We are built so that your personal information stays with you. Your name, the property address, your contact details, the landlord or agent’s details, and any amounts you enter are used only inside your web browser to assemble your document. They are never sent to us.

Payment

When you buy access, our payment processor collects your name and email address to take the payment and send you a receipt. Your card details are handled entirely by the payment processor and are never seen or stored by us, and the name and email you give at payment are held by our payment processor, not by us. Our own record of a purchase is a payment reference and a code for which report was produced, so that one payment produces one report. We match a payment to the report it produced only when you ask us to, for example to look into a complaint or a refund request, and we record each time we do.

Anonymous usage statistics

When you reach your result, we record the combination of multiple-choice answers you selected (for example your state, the type of dispute, and your yes-or-no answers), so we can see which situations renters most commonly face and keep improving the guidance. These records are anonymous. They never include your name, address, contact details, or the amounts in your dispute, they are never linked to you, and we do not use them to track you across visits or across other websites.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how many people visit the site and how they find it. Google Signals is off, so Google Analytics does not link your visits here to your activity on other websites or other devices. It assigns your browser an identifier and records the pages you view and whether you press the button that starts the questionnaire, but it never receives your questionnaire answers, the outcome you reach, or any personal details. Google, the provider of this service, may process this information on servers located overseas. Our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including Australian Privacy Principle 8 on cross-border disclosure, apply to that processing. Data is retained for the shortest period useful for this purpose. You can limit this tracking using your browser’s privacy settings or an analytics opt-out tool.

Assembling your report

To build your paid report, your browser sends us only the same anonymous multiple-choice answers (including simple yes-or-no facts it works out on your device, such as whether a deadline has passed and which of the detail fields you filled in), together with a one-time payment token so we can confirm the purchase. We send the matching wording straight back to your browser, with blanks where your details go. Your browser then fills in your dates, your name, and your other personal details, and builds the final PDF on your device. Your dates, like the rest of your personal information, never reach us.

3. Why we collect it

We collect your name and email address solely to process your payment and send you a receipt. We do not use this information for marketing without your explicit consent.

The anonymous answer combinations are used to understand which situations are most common and to improve the guidance. We never receive the dates you enter (your deadlines are worked out in your browser), so there is nothing about your dates for us to use or keep.

4. How we handle your completed report

Your completed report is assembled in your web browser, using the wording we return together with the dates and personal details you entered on your device, and is saved directly to you. We never receive, store, or have access to your finished document at any point.

While you are working through the questionnaire, your progress is saved in your browser’s local storage, on your device, so it survives the trip to the payment page and back. It is cleared when you download your report or start over, and it is never sent to us.

5. What we do not collect

Everything in this section is about the report. A Situation Review works differently, and section 7 sets that out: do not read the list below as covering both.

  • We never receive your address, contact details, or the amounts in your dispute. These stay in your browser.
  • We never see or receive your finished report.
  • No user accounts are created or required.
  • Our usage statistics are anonymous. We do not link what you selected to who you are, and we do not track you across other websites.
  • We make no AI calls, and no third-party API calls with your dispute details (see section 2 for the separate, general analytics we use to measure site visits).

6. Storage and security

The only information connected to you personally is the name and email address you give at payment, which are held by our payment processor on PCI-compliant infrastructure. Our own server stores the anonymous combinations of multiple-choice answers used for our usage statistics, and, for a purchase, a payment reference, a code identifying which report was produced, a content version, and a count of how many times a document has been regenerated. Google Analytics separately holds a per-browser identifier, the pages you visited and whether you pressed the start button, which is not linked to your payment or your identity. Our own server never holds your identity, your personal details, or your document. We take reasonable steps to protect this information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, consistent with our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

7. Situation Reviews are different

Everything above describes the report, where your personal details never leave your device. That promise is unchanged and unconditional.

A Situation Review cannot work that way. It is a meeting about your own matter, so you send us your information and we hold it. Specifically:

  • When you book, we collect your name, email address, the other party's name, the agency, and the property address. These are what the conflict check runs on. Once a time is agreed, your payment card is saved by our payment processor and is not charged until after your written summary is delivered.
  • What you email us, we hold. The documents you send us for your meeting, including any photographs, are kept as a client file for that matter, for as long as we are required to keep records of legal work, and are used only to give you the advice you asked for.

We do not sell this information, do not use it for marketing, and do not use it to train any AI or machine learning system. If you would like your file dealt with, contact us using the details in section 9.

8. Access and correction

You have the right to request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. Because we hold only minimal payment data, requests can be directed to us at contact@quickhelplegal.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time.

9. Complaints

If you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with this policy or the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), please contact us first so we have the opportunity to address your concern.

If the matter is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) ↗.

10. Policy updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at this page. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
